Just Slap a “J” on it

I learned recently that there is a “Christian” Ouija board being sold on Amazon. Of course I thought, “nah, can’t be real.” So, I looked on Amazon and, sure enough…

There is literally a “Christian” game modeled after the demonic Ouija Board being sold on Amazon for $29.95 called, “The Holy Spirit Board” by Holy Spirit Games. Its description reads: “The Holy Spirit Board is the only spirit board designed to directly contact our lord and savior Jesus Christ! Unlike other spirit boards that are often used to contact ghosts and demons, this is a one way ticket straight to heaven. Try it today, and discover a new way to pray!”

The description goes on in the “About” section: “GET THE ANSWERS YOU NEED! – The Holy Spirit Board can answer all of life’s most important questions, straight from the man himself! Huge 12×18” game board with beautiful artwork featuring the crucifixion and the angels of heaven. Beautiful golden Magic Cross planchette with metallic mirrored finish. Perfect for churches, prayer groups or just getting together with friends. Unlike other spirit boards, this one will NEVER contact evil ghosts or demons, so you can ask your questions with an assured sense of safety.”

What in the hellfire and brimstone???

“Do not turn to mediums, and do not seek after spiritists to be defiled by them. I am Yahovah your Elohim.” Leviticus 19: 31

Even the very idea of a “Holy Spirit Board” should be laughable at the obvious blasphemy of it. Like, what follower of the Messiah would even consider using this? One would think they wouldn’t, right? But, then I read the reviews.

While a lot of the reviews were from Christians rebuking the game, many were giving it praise. Here’s some examples:

“Hallelujah! I used to use a Ouija Board, but after my home became infested with demons and ghosts, I knew I had to turn to Jesus. Not only has the Holy Spirit Board made me a better person, but now, I can have the Lord tell me my fortune every day. Praise Jesus.”

“Purchased for a friend at Christmas. He loved it! My only gripe is with the price, but ultimately it was worth it to see my friend so happy.”

“It will answer your prayers.”

“I always thought I was going to Hell until Jesus explained Genesis 19:33-37 through my Holy Spirit Board. Now I’m guilt free and living my best life! Thank you Holy Spirit Games! Thank you, Jesus!”

“I’ve been a believer my whole life and pray constantly… I’ve learned to never expect answers from God so I’ve approached the Holy Spirit Board humbly and with humility. I’ve been so amazed and #blessed by this incredible tool for communicating with Jesus!”

Oh my!

The acceptance has already begun. And, I suspect, it will eventually be seen by many Christians as harmless as, oh, I don’t know, dying Easter eggs. Dressing up for Halloween. Putting your kid on Molech’s, er, I mean, Santa’s lap. I can already hear the justification, “oh, it’s just harmless fun. God knows my heart. We use it to spread the gospel” There was a time when pagan traditions and practices were banned in the Christian church. A time when a Christian church would consider having an Easter egg hunt just as blasphemous as having a “Holy Spirit Board.” How you may feel about the Ouiji Board getting a big “J” for Jesus slapped on it is how the church used to feel about dying eggs.

But, look at churches all around, advertising for their community egg hunts. They have grown lukewarm. What used to be seen as blasphemous is now embraced because they slapped a “J” on it.

“Yeah, but what’s wrong with Easter Egg hunts? You cannot compare this demonic board with egg hunts”

Aside from having nothing to do with the Risen Messiah, their origins are just as dark and demonic as the Ouija Board. Actually, their origins are darker. After Nimrods death, his wife Semiramis, known as the Queen of Heaven, took over and held yearly sacrifices in honor of the moon goddess. These sacrifices included dying eggs in the blood of infants.

It wouldn’t have been that long ago that most of us couldn’t imagine taking something wicked like the demon conjuring Ouija board, slapping a “J” for Jesus on it, and incorporating it in our prayer groups. Well, that’s no different than the Christians who would never have imagined taking the dying of eggs with the blood of sacrificed infants, slapping a “J” for Jesus on it, and incorporating it in your community outreach.

The world can do what the world wants with their Ouija board, no judgment here (because judgment of the unbeliever is not mine to give). But, you, oh Christian, should have no part in practicing the profane. You can slap a “J” on it all you want, but, it will not redeem it. Whether it’s a Ouija Board or dying eggs, you cannot redeem that what is profane.

“And have no fellowship with the fruitless works of darkness, but rather convict them.” Ephesians 5:11
