I couldn’t imagine being a teenager in this world filled with pressures that fifty years ago no one had to face. Every time you turn on the TV, you are met with sex, violence, and greed. It must be hard to make right choices when it seems like every body’s doing it. Whatever “it” may be that you are facing. But, you know, you can. You can make right choices. You are a precious gift from God and He has an amazing life for you, if you’ll choose to follow Him. Making right choices, saying no to pre-marital sex, saying no to drugs, not being a bully, these are all things you can conquer. When your friends are doing things you know they shouldn’t do, when your parents seem like they don’t understand you, when your teachers are hassling you to strive for higher grades, you may feel completely overwhelmed by it all. What you are feeling is normal. You have stuff to deal with and the pressure can get to you. You are searching for your place in the world, trying to fit in, trying to feel like you belong. You are a unique individual. Try not to get caught up in conforming to other peoples ideals of who you should be. If someone doesn’t like you for you, it’s their loss, not yours. There are many other people for you to hang out with that will accept you for who you are. Being a conformist will only stifle you and may eventually cause you to have an anger or esteem problem.
There may be times when you feel completely alone. We’ve all been there. Know that you are never alone when you have a personal relationship with the heavenly Father. When the world seems to have forsaken you and forgotten you- He never will. God will always be there for you. When you are struggling with something, cry out to Him. You can just look up at your ceiling while you are lying in bed and talk to Him, you can even yell at Him. God is a big enough God to handle it if you feel angry at Him for the things happening to you. That’s because He loves you with all that He is. In fact, the Bible says that God is Love and He loves you.
Economic Advice
If I could give young people just one piece of economic advice it would be this: unless you have a full scholarship or plan to attend a trade school, don’t go to college right out of high school. Instead, get a job, any job, even if it’s cleaning toilettes. If your parents will let you, live at home during this time. Save your money as much as possible, enough for a down payment on a really cheap house. Buy that cheap house when you’re about 21-22 years old. Interest rates are very low, about 5%. After being in your house for a year or so then go to community college, and if you decided to put it off, trade school. Get a better job from there. If you still aren’t satisfied, transfer your credits to a 4 year school. You can go online, pick one close to your house, or rent out your house to move closer to the school of your choice. Then go from there.
As it is now, young people, you are encouraged to do the opposite: acquire $50-100,000 in student loans for a university degree, then get a job. You will have to rent for quite a while because your debt to income ratio is too high to buy a house. A cheap mortgage is about 1/2 the cost of renting. You’ll pay about $1,000 per month in rent, money you will never get back when you move, when you could be paying $500 on a mortgage on a home you will own in 15 years.
The American dream is alive and with hard work and determination you can achieve it.
On a side note, don’t go after the degree that promises the most money, go after the job you will get the most enjoyment out of. And always trust God, thank Him, and give Him the glory.
What have you been told about ABORTION?
Perhaps you’ve heard some of the following:
Abortion does not end the life of a human being
Women have the right to control their bodies
Abortion is a personal choice that doesn’t affect anyone else
Your life will go back to normal after your abortion
Abortion is a simple, safe medical procedure
You’e too young to make a difference
Here’s a Reality Check
According to physicians, biologists, and scientists, “conception marks the beginning of the life of the human being”
All of us have the right to control our bodies. We decide what to eat, how we dress, and the career we want. But, once a baby is conceived, we are no longer talking about one person’s body; we are talking about a baby and a mother. That little baby, no matter how small, has her own set of rights.
If you look around, more than 1/3 of your generation is gone forever. These kids may have been your classmates, friends, husbands or wives. Abortion is destroying our nation- a nation that you are very much a part of.
The majority of relationships break up after abortion. Many women turn to alcohol and drugs after an abortion and may experience thoughts of suicide. Life does not go back to normal.
Complications from abortion include: blood clots, hemorrhaging, infection, cut or torn cervix, perforated uterus, pelvic inflammatory disease, infertility, and even death
You are never too young to spread the truth. You can make a difference. “Let no one disregard you because you are young, but be an example to all believers in the way you speak and behave, and in your live, your faith, and your purity.” (1 Timothy 4:12)
