The Cat, The Dog and The Rabbit

By: Elaine Cary

One day a street cat, named Faith, told a house dog named Sierra, “Go fetch me some food.” The dog decided that she might as well because she had nothing better to do. Later the dog brought a fine dish of pie to Faith. “Here’s your food,” said the dog. “Run along now then,” said the cat.

“But don’t I get a piece, since I’m the one who brought it. Besides, you won’t be able to eat it all” Sierra asked. Then the cat told the dog to go get her own. The dog walked sadly and hungrily away.
A rabbit, named Popcorn, saw the whole thing and decided to teach the cat a lesson. The rabbit got some of the finest food in town and when the cat saw it, she asked for some. Popcorn said, “NO!” Then the cat pleaded for some of the delicious looking food. Popcorn said, “NO!” the cat asked why and the rabbit said, “Because you did not share the pie that the dog got for you, I will not share my food with you.” The cat was very sorry and asked the dog to forgive her. The dog, being full of love and compassion, forgave her. Seeing that the cat had learned her lesson, the rabbit decided to share her food, because she loved the cat. Then the cat, the dog, and the rabbit ate some
really delicious food. So, who are you in this story? Are you the cat, in need of forgiveness? If so, then ask for it. Are you the dog, needing to forgive someone? If so, then forgive them. The rabbit is kind of like your mom or dad. Sometimes they try to teach you lessons and you feel like they are not being fair. But remember, they love you and are just trying
to raise you right.
