One in every five pregnancies ends in abortion.
“I feel the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a war against the child… A direct killing of the innocent child, Murder by the mother herself… And if we can accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another?” Mother Teresa
Abortion defies the original blessing, intent, and purpose of God when He created man in the Genesis account: Be fruitful and multiply.
The callousness by which people fight for the right to kill a child is disturbing.
My name is Rebecca Hamilton, advocate for the unborn and their mothers for over two decades, ten of which were spent as a volunteer at a local crisis pregnancy center. I am unapologetically prolife and would like to share with you the fallacy surrounding the pro-abortion campaign. This essay is not meant to offend, but to enlighten. I recognize it is rather lengthy, but if you are truly open to receive the truth, I know it will be worth the read.
The truth shall set you free.
Several years ago videos were released by the Centers for Medical Progress revealing Planned Parenthood’s black market on fetal body parts. Planned Parenthood’s claim for the reason to do so is the need for research and science. But, note, umbilical cord blood is more useful to stem cell research than fetuses. To dismember, vacuum suction, or chemically kill an unborn child is inhumane. In a supposedly civilized society, the practice of such evil is barbaric. But as I watched the videos, I couldn’t help but think that no matter how edited, one cannot deny that unborn babies were torn from their mother’s womb and placed in a petri dish for observation, to make sure no parts were left behind. I winced as I heard statements such as, “It’s a boy,” and “we still have one of the twins in the freezer.” This put into perspective the humanity of the unborn because clumps of tissue do not have organs. It is time to revisit Roe V Wade in light of the advancing knowledge of fetal growth and development since 1973. Those on the anti-life side state this would drown efforts made for the advancement of women in society. But, if abortion is the only choice she feels she has, is that really a choice? Abortion does not empower women, but is a tool of oppression and cover-up. A means for men to discard her and doctors to indulge in greed. Abortion lies to women by convincing them that they can’t be who they were destined to be if they let their child live.
I have been fighting for the plight of the unborn and their mother’s as early as my senior year of high school. This latest essay is the most inclusive one I’ve written to date. Here is my conclusion to the pro-abortion fallacy in explicit detail (figures and statistics are for the United States only; the majority of stats were found from Guttmacher Institute, Centers for Disease Control, OBGYN and Abortionist Testimony, and Federal Law/ Senate Sessions).
Abortion law: According to the landmark 1973 Supreme Court decision in Roe v Wade and Justice Harry Blackmun, the States cannot restrict abortion up to 6 months of pregnancy. After 6 months, States have restriction rights except in cases of the health of the mother. Health is defined as physical, emotional, psychological, familial (# of children she already has), and age. Doe v Bolton expanded the health exception to include social and economical. The health exception is so broad that this literally equates to abortion on demand as another form of birth control during all 9 months of pregnancy. Consider that 49% of the women receiving abortion did not use preventative measures against pregnancy and 29% reported missing a birth control pill one or more times in the three months prior to conception. Side note: if those women had used contraception and used it properly, then 78% of all abortions would have been prevented. 78 percent! That’s 546,000 babies per year that wouldn’t have to die. The law also states that abortions cannot be done for minor fetal abnormalities or sex selection. So consider these two statistics weighing against the law: 1. Former Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton claimed late term abortions were done by devastated mothers that wanted their child but needed to end the pregnancy. False. The number one reason a woman has a late term abortion is because her due date was miscalculated, not to preserve her life. But even if her life is in danger, an emergency C-section is far safer than a late term abortion. If we don’t understand the difference between labor induction or C-section in order to deliver an intact baby to save the mother’s life and dismembering a child within the womb, then we have no hope. As Mother Teresa stated so well, “A nation that kills its own children is a nation without hope.” YouTube search: A Conversation with a Former Abortionist: Full Interview with Dr. Anthony Levatino for more on late term abortion. And 2. Children with downs syndrome are the number one reason babies with fetal anomalies are aborted. Does their life not matter simply because they are different? Fortunately, thanks to President G.W. Bush, The Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act was signed into law in 2003. During a Partial Birth Abortion, the baby would be delivered feet first leaving just the head in the vaginal canal. The doctor would snip it’s neck and vacuum out the contents of it’s cranium. The Bill had previously been vetoed by President Bill Clinton and as Senator, Hillary Clinton voted against the Bill. Unfortunately, Democrats refused to pass the bill unless it had the health exception (physical, psychological, emotional, social, familial, age, economical). The American Medical Association testified before congress that it is never medically necessary to kill a partially delivered baby in order to preserve the life or health of the mother; that the procedure was in fact more damaging than finishing the birth of a live child. The testimony went on to declare it barbaric and inhumane, crossing a line between abortion and infanticide. Efforts are currently being made to ban abortions on babies with downs syndrome and on viable babies (babies who can live outside the womb).
The Abortion law was founded on a lie: Norma McCorvey, the Jane Roe in the Roe v Wade case, claimed she had been raped and denied an abortion. Lawyers convinced her to file a federal lawsuit against her state. Remember, abortion was legal in some states prior to Roe V Wade. It was a state issue prior to 1973. The result: Roe v Wade took abortion legislating rights away from the states. The federal government has no jurisdiction over the matter according to the constitution except in cases in favor of preserving the right to life. Later, Norma McCorvey, admittedly lied to being raped, turned pro-life , and had been an advocate for the unborn until her death in 2017. She was merely a pawn in the movement directed by 2 feminist lawyers who needed a stronger case and regretted her part in the deaths of millions. For more information: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norma_McCorvey
Abortion needs to be kept safe and rare: Let’s first note that the number one cause of death among pregnant women is homicide, not giving birth. The late Dr. Bernard Nathanson, co-founder of the National Abortion Rights Action League (N.A.R.A.L.) and former abortion provider turned pro-life activist is quoted as saying, “I confess that I knew the figures were totally false,” in reference to the claim that between 5,000-10,000 women died annually from illegal abortion. He went on to disclaim that the figure was closer to 90. Some researchers state the figures to be as low as an average of 34 deaths per year. In 1972, the year prior to Roe v Wade, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reported 39 maternal deaths from illegal abortion, 90% of which were performed by a licensed physician, and 24 maternal deaths due to legal abortion. The back alley coat hanger argument is simply a myth. The most prevalent reason women survive abortion in modern times compared to then is the availability of antibiotics, as abortion has a high rate of infection. According to the CDC, over 200 women have died from legal abortion between 1973-1994. After Roe v Wade, an average of 14 women per year still die from abortion (legal and illegal). That does not count the number of women who die from suicide after abortion, or have tremendous damage done to their bodies such as infertility, torn bowels, torn uterus, infection, post abortion syndrome, breast cancer, etc. We legalized the murder of millions of unborn children in order to save the lives of a few women who were committing an illegal act. It doesn’t make sense to legalize the murder of one human by another human just to keep it safe. And 60 million aborted babies is anything but rare. For a comprehensive list of abortion statistics go to: http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/ss6410a1.htm (abortion surveillance by the CDC)
More women die from natural birth than abortion: Statistically, there are far fewer maternal deaths in countries were abortion is illegal than were it is legal. With the advancement of modern technology, only very early abortion is “safer” than giving birth. But safer for who? Certainly not the baby. Ultimately, pregnancy is a natural condition, not a disease.
What about rape, incest, life of mother? These 3 combined make up for less than 3% of all abortions. They are the exception, not the rule. The highest percentage of women receiving abortions are between the ages of 20-24 and site reasons such as not ready, can’t afford, and will interrupt education. Again, we legalized the murder of 60 million children because of extreme exceptions to the rule, of which life of mother was already legal. If the case for abortion is for the 3% of the marginal cases, then I’m sure the pro-life campaign would be willing to compromise. If the anti-life campaign is willing to say, “Yes, the 97% of abortions done on healthy babies by healthy mothers should be illegal and only the 3% done because of life, rape, and incest should be legal,” then we all can have a civil discussion on compromise. But that’s not what the anti-life campaign wants. They use the marginal 3% of cases to push the majority 97% of cases: abortion on demand no matter what. That aside, psychologically, raped mothers who choose to give life feel heroic in a victimizing situation. Abortion does not make the rape go away, it only compounds the rape issue. It was once asked, “Can you tell the difference between an unborn child conceived in rape and one conceived in love?” Life is life no matter how it got there. The child should not be punished for the crime of its father. Even the life issue is flawed. The majority of life-threatening issues arise after approximately 22 weeks when it is not necessary to kill the unborn child to save the life of the mother. During late-term abortions the mother still has to be dilated and go through labor and delivery. If there is cause for premature delivery or emergency C-section in order to save the life of the mother there is literally no reason to kill the child first. There is no difference to her life or health in giving birth to a dead child or a living child. This also shines light on the flawed “forced birthers” argument since she still has to give birth. The cancer rate during pregnancy is between .02-.1%. Even in cases when a woman has to choose between chemo therapy and continuing the pregnancy, it is possible to seek other treatment until the fetus is viable. As with mother’s with cervical cancer who can suffer giving birth, she has the option of having a C-section instead. But as stated, saving the life of a mother, typically because of ectopic pregnancy of which the baby cannot survive anyway, was already legal prior to 1973. For more on the non-necessity of late-term abortion refer again to: A Conversation with a Former Abortionist: Full Interview with Dr. Anthony Levatino
Pro-lifers are just pro-birth. After the fetus is born they don’t care about the child: Some folks feel passionately about the rights of the unborn. Just like some are passionate about saving rain forests, endangered species, or historical architecture. That doesn’t make them any less caring toward born children or people with birth privilege. I could ask, “Are you against human sex trafficking?” to which the reply would undoubtedly be, “Of course!” So, how many girls have you rescued. How many rescued girls have you taken into your home? How many homes have you built to house such girls? Do you see how silly this argument is? Of course, one can be against human sex-trafficking without being actively involved. One can only do so much as an individual.
“Then why do pro-lifers want to cut federal funding of entitlement programs?” Upwards of 80% of funds/ taxes spent for these programs is spent on administrative costs (politicians lining their own pockets) leaving only 20% left for the recipient. Private nonprofits doing the same work spend only roughly 20% on administration and 80% goes directly to the recipient. Private charity is simply more cost effective. There are over 3,000 crisis pregnancy centers across the country to help both mom and baby abundantly. Besides, Jesus did not say, “Give to the Romans and let them take care of the poor.” He said, “You give to the poor.” Ever wonder why? Because the government is the oppressor keeping people bound in their poverty. Politicians are nothing more than elected kings and queens vying for your vote by promising free stuff, all while lining their own pockets and keeping the poor a slave to their lack of ambition. “But the poor have the gospel preached to them.” It is the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ that brings people out of the bondage that has kept them a slave for so long. You give to the poor, both in Word and deed.
Don’t like abortions? Don’t have one: That’s like saying, “Don’t like drunk driving? Don’t drink and drive but don’t judge me if I do!” When another human being’s rights are being violated or threatened it becomes society’s moral and legal obligation to intervene.
Unless you have a uterus, you have no say! If you believe that the man has no say over the life of his unborn child then you should automatically give up any rights to collect child support should you decide not to kill his child. You should also believe that that same man has the same parental termination rights as you do. Since you have the right to choose as to whether or not you want to be a mom, so should he have the right to choose (by severing parental rights) as to whether or not he wants to be a dad. A pro-choice woman who believes he has no say and pursues child support is a hypocrite. And men, if you are not willing to support a child that you fathered, then please, don’t have sex with her. Abortion is devastating to women and cuts them to the core. Real men do not send women to a doctor to have their child butchered.
If you hate abortion so much, why don’t you adopt them all? The adoption waiting list is between 18 months and 7 years long. For me to adopt would be taking a child away from another couple waiting to hold a baby in their arms. There is literally no need for me to adopt when so many others are waiting. But, perhaps more couples would be willing to adopt if they could afford to do so. Adoption costs between $10,000 – 45,000, with the average cost between $25,000 – 35,000. The availability of newborns has dropped drastically in the years following Roe v Wade from 40,000 in the 1970’s to less than 18,000 today. These babies are being aborted rather than adopted while couples across the United States wait years for to adopt.
But there are thousands of children in foster care: The majority of the children in foster care are awaiting reunion with their mother and/ or father or other family member. Most foster care cases are temporary situations in which the court is mandating parenting classes and such for the mother and father in order to get their children back. That said, thank God for good foster parents. What would we do without them?
Why would you want to force a woman to have an unwanted child only to have it suffer a horrible life? So we should kill children living in abuse, neglect, and poverty? Murdering a child, whether born or unborn, because it might have a rough childhood is absurd. Since when do we advocate murdering those in need and suffering from abuse or neglect, rather than do what we can to improve their existence? On the flip side, it might not have it so bad and lead a healthy productive life.
Abortion is good for population control: The moral solution to population control is to prevent pregnancy, not kill humans.
Planned Parenthood does so many other good things, abortion is only 3% of their services: There are three fallacies in this statement. 1. “Well, my doctor only kills 3% of his patients, but I’m telling you, his other services are just wonderful!” 2. Abortion only being 3% of their services is a misconception. PP serves 2.7 million clients per year. They perform 327,653 abortions per year. That’s 1 abortion for every 8.24 clients. So how does PP come up with their figures of 3%? Easy. I’ll explain with this example: A client goes to PP for an abortion. She receives the following services: pregnancy test, STD test, counseling, referrals, and an abortion. PP lists that, even though she came for an abortion, she received 5 services. As America’s largest abortion provider, PP receives 500 million dollars in tax payer money for all these “services”. Then they donate 20 million to the Democratic National Committee. That is corrupt. 3. Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger was a white supremacist who supported eugenics. “To apply a stern and rigid policy of sterilization and segregation to that grade of population…” Margaret Sanger. And Hillary Clinton applauds her, “I admire Margaret Sanger enormously, her courage, her tenacity, her vision.” Is this who we want as our next President? But in the end, PP is not a necessity. Let’s compare Planned Parenthood to other health clinics. There are only 700 Planned Parenthood (PP) facilities compared to over 9,000 community health centers (CHC), over half of which are whole-health women’s centers. Number of facilities: PP- 700; CHC- 9,000. Number of clients served: PP-2.7 million; CHC- 21 million. Number of Pap Tests given: PP- 378,692; CHC- 1,787,256. Number of Mammograms: PP- ZERO; CHC- 424,376. Number of Abortions: PP 327,653; CHC- ZERO. Add that on top of the over 3,000 crisis pregnancy centers available to help both mom and baby and the over 4,000 Walmarts where one can purchase a 12 count box of condoms for less than $8.00. There is such a push for women to receive unrestricted free access to contraception when 80% of the women getting abortions are not married, 50% used no form of birth control, and 29% misused oral contraception. Shouldn’t there be a push for more abstinence education? For the man to provide condoms since contraception DOES NOT aid in STD prevention? But I can tell you, I have yet to meet anyone who was restricted or denied access to buying condoms at Walmart. Note: condoms do not protect against certain STDs such as herpes, chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis, however they are 97% effective at preventing pregnancy when used correctly. Abstinence (including abstaining from oral sex) is the only way to prevent disease (and pregnancy) 100% of the time.
The fetus is not a sentient being, it’s a mere parasite, a clump of cells: By definition, fetus is an unborn human child, the offspring of mammals. It is Latin for little one or small one. “You wouldn’t object to pulling the plug on a brain dead adult.” Well, now here is the thing, the fetus will continue to grow and become ever more sentient as it develops in and out of the womb. If a doctor new with 100% certainty that the now brain dead adult would make a full recovery within just a few short months, pulling the plug would most certainly be unethical, inhumane, and murder. That aside, I would object to tearing a brain dead adult apart, limb from limb, and crushing it’s skull, even if they were going to die anyway.
My body, my choice: Oh yeah? Try walking into the court house naked with a needle full of heroin sticking out of your arm while soliciting for prostitution and see what happens to you. Total bodily autonomy is a myth. Laws are meant to protect life, even from one’s self, and that should include the unborn. But Roe was not ruled on bodily autonomy. It was ruled on a woman’s right to privacy. However, I am not legally allowed to invite someone into my home and then have them killed except for self-defense. Nor can I kill an innocent person that was forced into my home by one committing a crime (i.e. rape). Nor can I choose to donate my kidney to another person and then demand the kidney back. In over 98% of abortions, the woman invited the unborn child into her womb when she consented to sexual intercourse. We know that sex makes babies! She consented to the use of her womb when she consented to penetration. The baby inside her is innocent of trespass according to constitutional law and clearly its own separate entity, having DNA present at the moment of conception. A fetus is not a parasite (one species that feeds off of another species) or a tumor or growth, a foreign object needing removal. It is the unborn of the same species. Again, pregnancy is a natural condition, not a disease that needs to be dealt with. Unborn children should have an equal right to life of that of its mother. “We hold these truths to be sacred & undeniable; that all men are created equal & independent, that from that equal creation they derive rights inherent & inalienable, among which are the preservation of life, & liberty, & the pursuit of happiness.” Thomas Jefferson- original rough draft for the Declaration of Independence. “The fetus is not independent of me and I shouldn’t be forced to incubate (care for) it.” Children, whether born or unborn, are not independent from needing care. And if a child is in your custody, whether born or unborn, you have a legal and moral obligation to care for that child until you give it to someone else.
You just don’t know what the woman is going through, stop judging her: Regarding judging- it is right to enact laws that protect inalienable human rights, no matter the surrounding circumstances. There are moral absolutes whether one believes that or not. Example: rape is wrong. If we were discussing the crime of rape, you would not be telling me not to judge the rapist. But let’s look at this from a different perspective. Let’s take two scenarios of the worst kind and compare them. Woman A is brutally raped. She conceives a child. This sends her into a deep depression. She loses her job, gets evicted, and contemplates suicide. Instead, at 8 months pregnant, she has a doctor kill the growing child inside her. The abortion doesn’t alleviate the other circumstances. She is still depressed, jobless, and homeless. She has legally killed her child. Woman B is brutally raped. She conceives a child. This sends her into a deep depression. She loses her job, gets evicted, and contemplates suicide. Instead, she carries her child to term, delivers the baby and at 2 or 3 days old, she kills her infant baby. She is now in jail. Same scenario except for the child’s location. And yet, with woman A, we applaud her right to choose and judge Woman B as a murderer. No one should have the right to kill another human being, no matter their age, no matter their location, no matter their circumstances. Laws based on emotional pleas surrounding particular situations are bad laws. The right to life should be just that, the right to life.
No one really knows when life begins: So we err on the side of abortion being acceptable as long as it resides in the mother’s womb throughout the entire 9 months of pregnancy? This makes no sense. If ever we should err on the side of preserving humanity it should be here. That aside, everything that a person will be, hair color, sex, temperament, height, etc… is mapped out in the architectural plan of DNA at the moment of conception. Not before. A sperm or egg by itself will never be a human. And not after. Implantation, heartbeat, brainwaves, birth. None of these mark the moment a separate human entity was created into being. There is no definitive line that magically transforms a non-human entity into a human being except conception. Some may say the third trimester, or even birth defines the line. I would ask what happens in those moments that transforms it from a right to kill to out and out murder? There must be a transaction that occurs in the life of the fetus that defines this, otherwise this argument is completely invalid. That said, a growing unborn child has a heartbeat and brain waves by 21 days gestation, before most women even find out they are pregnant. Most abortions occur between 8-13 weeks, after the heart beats and the brain has activity. Also consider that the spinal column and nervous system has already formed. The fetus can feel pain and swims frantically away from abortion instruments that are introduced into the womb. YouTube search: The Silent Scream.
What if the baby has severe defects? Four things. 1. Babies with severe defects make up for only 2% of all very late term abortions, which make up for less than 5% of abortions overall. The majority of babies aborted with “defects” are babies with downs syndrome. Their lives matter. 2. Who are we to decide who is worth living and who is worth dying? Does a “defective” baby have less worth than a healthy one? God forbid. We all have worth. Every soul has a unique purpose and right to live and seek out that purpose. 3. So, doctors have never been wrong? How many times have you heard stories of women whose doctors told them to abort their severely defective child but they chose life? And it turned out to be perfectly healthy. Which brings me to point 4. Miracles can and do happen.
Okay, so no one likes abortion. That’s why we need more comprehensive sexual education (CSE): CSE gradually made its way into the public education system beginning as early as the late 1960’s following the sexual revolution as a solution to the increased pregnancy rates among unmarried women. In 1980, there were 921,696 pregnancies among women aged 15-19, an increase of 10.5% from 1974. However, between 1974 and 1980, the number of live births decreased 7.3% while the number of abortions increased. Between 1971 and 1982, the estimated percentage of never married 15-19 year old women with premarital sexual experience increased from 26.8% to 42.8%. From 1980-1990 teen pregnancy rates stayed relatively the same, about 1 million per year, even though Comprehensive Sexual Education became increasingly prevalent. In the mid 1990’s, abstinence education began to make its mark, steadily rising in popularity. From 1995-1997, among women aged 15-19 years, the number of pregnancies declined by 3.1% and the national pregnancy rate declined by 7.8%. By the year 2,000, the teen pregnancy rate dropped 28% to 720,000 pregnancies among women aged 15-19. Around 2005, the abstinence movement declined in popularity as the movement to put teens on the pill increased. However, by 2012, the STD rates skyrocketed among teenagers, even though the pregnancy rate dropped to an all-time low to 305,000. 1 out of every 4 teenagers has an STD. So, while we are putting our daughters on the pill to prevent pregnancy, they are still putting themselves at risk by practicing unsafe sex. These risks include STDs that can cause cervical cancer and infertility. Note: long term use of oral contraception can lead to infertility and breast cancer. Comprehensive Sexual Education is not working to decrease the number of teens having sex or practicing safer sex. Abstinence education proved to not only lower the teen pregnancy and STD rate, but also the rate of teenagers having sex before the age of 20.
Regarding abortion and babies: 64% of all abortions are done around 8 weeks (the time when the baby’s heart has already started to beat). Many abortions at this point are chemical. Large doses of mifepristone serve to deprive the baby of nutrients and it dies. The woman experiences an early miscarriage. Many abortions at this stage are evacuation or suction. Just under half of all abortions are done after 8 weeks. The baby already has fingers and toes, brain waves, etc… it sucks its thumb, recognizes its mothers voice, and even dreams. At some point around 18-22 weeks it can feel pain. Surgical abortions are done at this point. Surgical abortions are Dilation and Curettage (D&C) and Dilation and Evacuation (D&E). A D&C abortion is the dismemberment abortion. The doctor uses an instrument to remove the uterine contents (i.e. fetus) by separating its parts (i.e. tearing its limbs off and crushing its skull). The D&E abortion uses a powerful suction to suck the uterine contents (fetus) through a vacuum tube. The fetus will need to be reassembled in order to make sure all of the parts are accounted for and none left in the womb. I was once accused of making this up. To which I asked, “How do you think abortions are performed? Do you think a doctor waves a magic wand and by magic her uterus is empty?” Such a silly thing for people to actually think abortion is neat and tidy. Of course it’s messy and bloody. Of course, tiny babies are torn apart, starved of nutrients, suctioned, vacuumed… killed. Abortion ends a living being’s life. For more on abortion procedures: YouTube search Abortion procedures by Anthony Levatino. Note: Saline/salt abortions are now illegal. This procedure removed amniotic fluid from the womb and replaced it with a saline/ salt solution. This served to burn the baby (much like pouring salt on a slug) inside and out. It gulped the fluid into its lungs and it died. It was banned because too many babies were surviving the procedure and born with minor to severe disabilities due to the lack of oxygen. Imagine a world where a procedure is banned because too many babies were surviving! See abortion survivor Gianna Jesson’s testimony before congress: Gianna Jessen congressional testimony
Regarding women: Abortion is permanent. Once you have one there is no going back. Many women suffer from Post Abortion Syndrome, even to the point of suicide, after having an abortion. It is extraordinarily rare that a woman who chose to give her child life regrets her decision and wishes she had an abortion once the child is born. And even rarer is the child who agrees with his mother that she should have aborted him. But there is hope and there is help. There are crisis pregnancy centers around the country that counsel women facing an unplanned pregnancy. They provide resources for financial aid, continuing education, adoption, provide baby clothes, diapers, formula, cribs, etc., some even assist in the delivery room when no one else is available. And they don’t stop there. Services are continued well after baby is born. These centers also provide a safe place for women who’ve had abortions to seek healing and forgiveness through loving counseling. Women deserve better than what abortion has to offer! If you have had an abortion, there is forgiveness and healing.
Current laws are sweeping through the states that have served to lower the abortion rate in our country. Rates peeked at 1.2 million per year from 1995-2005 and have dropped to 700,000 in 2012. In the 1992 landmark decision Planned Parenthood of Pennsylvania vs. Casey, the Pennsylvania Abortion Control Act (instituted in 1989 by Governor Bob Casey) was upheld by the Supreme Court. This Act put limits on abortions by requiring informed consent and a 24 hour waiting period. The information to be given to a woman seeking an abortion by the doctor is: alternatives to abortion, risks of abortion and pregnancy, estimated gestational age of the fetus accompanied by a pamphlet showing pictures of fetal development, and availability of state economic assistance for prenatal care, childcare and neonatal care. The abortion rate dropped by 25% in the state of Pennsylvania the year following this legislation. But more needs to be done until abortion becomes the unthinkable in the hearts of all. But the anti-life campaign fights these laws stating they are damaging to women. Since when is informed consent damaging?
Ultimately, abortion is a heart issue. Until the humanity of an unborn human child is revealed in a person’s heart, they will continue to believe the abortion lie. When I hear statements such as “It’s my fetus, I can kill it if I want to,” I am reminded of just how demonic abortion is. May God have mercy on us.
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you. “ Jeremiah 1:5 NKJV
“For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works.” Psalm 139: 13-14 NKJV
For the love of all things good and pure in this life, I would ask that you consider the ramifications of this black mark on the United States of America and take a stand for life.
