Faith Like a Mustard Seed

Dear Partners and Friends,

I know a man that got saved back in 1975 listening to Jack Van Impe on the radio. Months later, he was turning the radio dial and came across what the man describes as a “loud-mouthed preacher” with a message of faith like a mustard seed. Hungry for more of the Word, he paused and listened for a while and thought to himself, “Man, I really like this guy.”

That loud-mouthed preacher was Kenneth Copeland of Kenneth Copeland Ministries (KCM). KCM came to Pittsburgh in the fall of 1976. His convention was held October 12, 13, & 14. The man had the privilege of attending this three day meeting. He got filled with the knowledge of the authority of the believer, given to him through the Messiah, and the wisdom of the Word of Faith movement filled his spirit.

The man learned about Mark 11:23 “For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.” KJV

And Proverbs 18:31 “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” KJV

And Mark 16:18 “They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” KJV

He learned about the woman with the issue of blood that was healed when she touched the hem of Yeshua’s garment.

He learned about Jairus’ daughter that was healed even after he was told she was dead.

He learned of the Centurion soldier’s servant that was healed just by His word.

He learned that Yeshua healed all who asked of Him, and that it was their faith that made them well.

“And He said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace.’”  Luke 8: 48 NAS

Just two weeks after being filled with faith like a mustard seed, the man’s wife went into labor with their third child. They were admitted and ushered to a hospital room. The woman was hooked up to a machine that monitors the baby’s heartbeat. While alone in the room with his wife, the monitor flat lined. The baby’s heart had stopped. The father, filled with faith, walked over to the mother, laid his hands on her belly, and commanded the baby’s heart to beat by simply calling on the name of Jesus. Seconds later, there was a beep, beep, beep of the monitor.

Soon after, the mother was taken to the delivery room while the father waited in the waiting room. The baby’s heart stopped again, this time for much longer. The doctor instructed the mother not to push as doing so could kill the baby. She kept her faith in our Elohim and only believed. The faith of the father and mother sustained the baby and the monitor, once again, began to beep, beep, beep.

But that’s not the end of this healing journey for this baby. As if weighing in at just 5 pounds 2 ounces with a heart that kept stopping wasn’t enough, the baby’s 6 week check-up did not go well. The pediatrician told the parents that not only did their baby, a little girl, most likely suffer from brain damage due to the lack of oxygen during birth, but also gave the baby a diagnosis of downs syndrome.

When the couple left the doctor’s office, the man looked at his wife and told her they weren’t going back there and to only believe. Thankful that her little girl had lived, she agreed. She kept a thankful heart for the healing power of Yahweh bestowed on her daughter. And the father went into his daughter’s room every night and prayed over her. He told her she was beautiful, and smart, and healed, in Jesus name!

The mother and father of this tiny little baby, born October 28, 1976, spoke words of life, healing, and wholeness over her. And that baby girl was me.

Thanks, mom and dad.

“And Yeshua rebuked the demon, and he came out of him. And the child was healed form that hour. Then the taught ones (disciples) came to Yeshua by Himself and said, ‘Why were we unable to cast him out?’ And Yeshua said to them, ‘Because of your unbelief, for truly, I say to you, if you have belief as a mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it shall move. And no matter shall be impossible for you.’” Matthew 17: 18-20 The Scriptures
